Avery Island

So this past Friday we went with some friends to Avery Island. Home of the Tobasco Sauce! We had lots of fun. We went to the country store and tried out all kinds of different sauces. They even had an ice cream that was flavored with tobasco sauce but I didn't think it was good and Ben was really disapointed when his ice cream started to burn his tongue. Afterwards we went on a tour through the tobasco factory. Then we went on to walk around the Jungle Gardens. That was a lot of fun! Everything was in full bloom, and the weather was just right. They actually have a beautiful Buddha temple there. Ben got to walk around and look at things through some bonoculars (probably spelled that wrong) And Jackson walked around and tried to eat dirt and leaves. He quickly learned that it was not tasty. All in all it was a good day. Oh, and we went and ate at Landry's in Lafayette. The really great thing about this place besides it wonderful hospitality was that they have a place where you can feed their ducks but you quickly learn that you are feeding their huge supply of catfish. There were so many of them it was almost eerie and they were actually pushing the ducks out of the way to get to the food. So if anyone is ever out that way you should definantly eat there. Anywho, that was our trip to Avery Island. It was well worth the drive.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Where is Avery Island?

Avery Island is just outside of Lafayette. It really isn't much like an island. It is surrounded by a canal.

I know, nasty huh! I think they had one icecream that was jalepeno flavored. I wasn't going anywhere near that!
